KEMER

"Arch" town                              Population: 22,500

Kemer1If all you're after is a beach holiday without the need to feel guilty that you're not busy sightseeing then Kemer, south-west of Antalya, could fit the bill perfectly.

Its streets have been tidied up, pedestrianised and provided with shade from the blistering sun. A smart marina is ringed with inviting restaurants. And the landmark Saat Kulesi (Clock Tower) sits to one side of Cumhuriyet Meydanı, the central square, where the statue of Atatürk barely gets a look in amid all the fountains.

The cafe on the terrace of the Clock Tower is absolutely delightful, offering views of a resort where most of the hotels are low-rise and where the mountains of the Bey Dağları National Park are a constant backdrop.Kemer3

If, on the other hand, you need more than beaches, shops and restaurants to keep you entertained then this is unlikley to be the place for you.
