ADADA

High up in the mountains behind Eğirdir in the Lake District are the scant remains - three temples, a forum, a theatre and a basilicia - of the Roman settlement of Adada, one of those places where you can hardly help but pause and contemplate the collapse of even the most powerful of civilisations.

Virtually nothing is known about Adada which has still to be excavated. However, there is one surviving stretch of paved road along which it is very possible that St Paul walked on his first missionary journey.

Transport info

Infrequent buses from Eğirdir to the unexciting town of Sütcüler pass within a km of the Adada ruins.
