GÜNAY'S GARDEN, KAYAKÖY

Kayaköy, near Ölüdeniz, is home to a delightful group of wood and stone apartments overlooking a circular pool in a hidden corner of what could be called ‘new’ Kayaköy; whether you’re swimming or relaxing on the large terraces of the houses the ruined village will be right in front of you.

The Keskins who own it had been working in tourism for many years before they decided to create their own little haven here, using old stones so that new buildings would blend perfectly into their surroundings. They have designed the houses on two levels with a small downstairs sitting area for colder days and large bedrooms and terraces upstairs; they come with all mod cons including DVD players and fully-equipped kitchens.

The garden is awash with ancient pots, old wheels and fragments of marblework and there’s a small café-bar so you’re unlikely to spend much time indoors.

Thumbs up: Wonderful views, beautifully designed units

Thumbs down: Relatively little in the way of restaurants and shops in immediate vicinity
