alibilirFor a long time Beyşehir was something of an accommodation black hole but now the Ali Bilir Hotel has stepped up to the plate offering space and comfort just minutes' walk away from the lake and the lovely Eşrefoğlu Cami.

To be honest, the actual building will never win any prizes, being a standard high-rise block of a thing just behind the faded Park Motel that used to be more or less the only show in town.

Inside, however, all is smart, shiny and efficient. Bedrooms are unexpectedly spacious and those on the upper levels offer views of the lake and mountains. Beds are comfy, the minibar is vaguely stocked (non-alcoholic drinks only) and there's a dressing table to work at as well as armchairs to relax in. Televisions are unusually small for these days which some may count a blessing. The one snag is the Internet which relies on an unnecessarily fiddly process of logging in that defeated my computer.alibilir1

Bathrooms, too, are spacious, with proper tubs as well as reasonably sized sinks. The decor throughout is modern and unobtrusive.

Breakfasts are served in a top-floor restaurant which scoops the lake views again. Dinners are also available here, if required. The breakfast spread included hot items and was generous without being exceptional.

Thumbs up: Spacious, comfortable bedrooms, friendly service, great location, reasonable prices

Thumbs down: Internet access not as straightforward as one might hope
