bosnaliIn a city of architecturally prosaic hotels, the 12-room Bosnalı in Adana stands out as the first to have been created out of one of the old Ottoman houses facing the Seyhan river. It was originally built in 1889 for a Bosnian called Salih Efendi.

Internally the hotel is full of fine wooden features including the main stairwell that leads eventually to the rooftop restaurant.

The decor of the rooms is not perhaps as inspiring as the restoration of the building although mine was perfectly comfortable with decet air-con, good wifi and some English programming on the TV. Double-glazing keeps the noise from the main road outside at bay.

Breakfast is served in a very smart ground-floor dining room. It's a served meal but with a reasonable spelection of items.

On arrival you're offered tea or coffee on the terrace and given a list of useful info and an explanation of what's for free and what's not in the hotel. Made for a very good start I thought.

The view from the rooftop terrace of the park, the Roman bridge and the huge Merkez Cami is spectacular and attracts a steady flow of wedding photographers.bosna2

Thumbs up: Fine building in great location for sightseeing, professionally run

Thumbs down: At night street in front can be rather dark and quiet for lone women
