In a pleasantly central location on Batman's high street beside a small park, the İzgi Turhan Hotel is a thoroughly professionally run place to stay where everything was working perfectly.
I had a nice room on the quiet side of the hotel with a comfortable double bed taking up most of the space but with plenty of storage space and a well-designed unit that incorporated a fridge and a tray for tea and coffee-making faciities. The large wall-mounted TV offered AlJazeera, the air-con unit worked well. The wifi was somewhat iffy but it was hard to know whether that was to do with reception in the hotel or in Batman as a whole at a troubled time.
Breakfast is served in a large, airy ground-floor dining room. There's an excellent choice of hot and cold items - no one is likely to go hungry.
The ground-floor also offers plenty of space to sit and plan a visit to nearby Hasankeyf.
Thumbs up: Comfortable, well-designed rooms, great breakfasts
Thumbs down: Inconsistent wifi connection
