Just a stone's throw away from the ruins of the great Temple of Apollo in Didyma, the Medusa House feels like a rambling collection of stone houses with lovely secluded gardens although it's actually only two adjoining cottages.
In keeping with the location rooms are kept fairly simple so although it calls itself a boutique hotel you should not arrive anticipating luxury.
My room was comfortable enough with a double bed and a chair with two tables virtually all in the way of furnishing aside from a built-in wardrobe. The a-c worked a treat but there was no TV or fridge. More unfortunately the bathroom seemed to belong to a much cheaper sort of hotel. Not only was there limited water in the hot tap but there was no shampoo and no hair-drier. For what I was paying these should have been essentials.
In summer eating a leisurely breakfast in the courtyard garden full of cacti and other lush vegetation with a cat or two for comfort is a real delight.
Thumbs up: Pretty building, great location, wonderful gardens
Thumbs down: Bathrooms too basic for the price category
