psidia1Externally the Hotel Psidia in Yalvaç is hardly inviting. Inside, however, it's another matter with spacious, modern rooms attractively decorated in several shades of wood and the soft furnishings restricted to white. Ask for a room at the back to be sure of a quiet night although my front room with wraparound windows actually turned out to be quieter than I anticipated.

My room contained a single and a double bed with plenty of storage space as well. The windowless bathroom was small in comparison with the space for the room itself but it was all new and clean and in excellent working order. The one quirk of the room was the tiny TV with a single armchair placed in front of it despite there being bedding for three people. psidia3

The breakfast room is on the top floor and while the view is not spectacular it's pleasant enough as was the choice of comestibles available.

The lobby had a small sitting area as well as the reception desk. Guidebooks to Antioch in Psidia were on sale there too.

Most of the ground floor is taken up by the Sultan Sofrası Restaurant.

All in all, this was a surprisingly good hotel for a somewhat out of the way location. Apparently it can be very busy with travelling salemen midweek so try and visit over the weekend for the best choice of rooms.

Thumbs up: Light, spacious, modern bedrooms; just minutes' from town centre

Thumbs down: Offputtingly ugly exterior
