teospens1You don't have to walk far beyond the old castle walls of Siğacık to find the delightful Teos Pansiyon, an orangey-red building set back from a garden restaurant whose tables and chairs are painted the now almost obligatory blue and white.

With only seven rooms, the Teos doesn't have to try hard to find guests and at weekends you should certainly make a point of booking ahead. The nicest rooms are those at the front that overlook the harbour and the spactacular sunsets. They're fashioned rather like junior suites, with a sitting area with couch, television and coffee table, although there is nothing at all posh about this place. The colour scheme is a simple mix of cream and earth tones, perfect for hot days. The air-con worked well and was positioned so that you didn't have it beating down directly on your head. teospens2

The ground floor is a restaurant for use in winter. The menu rolls out a fairly standard array of Turkish favourites - I had lamb chops which came with mashed potatoes and a simple salad. Perfect.

Breakfast too was an Aegean treat of cheeses and jam.

Thumbs up: Lovely, simple rooms, nice restaurant, great location

Thumbs down: Some noise from road outside could be a problem over summer weekends.
