yildirOverlooking Denizli otogar, the Yıldırım Hotel could hardly be more convenient and offers comfortable rooms with the quietest on the top floors. Some even have a balcony if you have an overwhelming desire to look down on the action in the bus station.

The reception staff offer a warm welcome from a desk at one side of a small, rather uninspiring lounge.

My bedroom had a double bed which bumped up the rise a notch but made for greater comfort. The TV rose to AlJazeer and a recent makeover meant that there were plenty of electricity sockets and decent air con and wifi. The brown blanket was a bit "old Turkey" and the bathroom, while functional, looked as if it belonged to a previous incarnation of the hotel.

On the whole I thought this a not bad option but the side was badly let down by the ground-floor dining room which felt like the canteen of a student hostel. A few pictures would have done wonders to cheer it up although really it needs a complete rethink. The breakfast itself was good enough although, as so often, one has to ask for each cup of Nescafe while the tea is self-service.yildir2
