For the last few years it has been possible to ascend Tahtalı Dağı (Mt Tahtalı, 2365m), the mountain that soars above the coast 57km west of Antalya, by funicular. On a fine day the views from the summit are said to be spectacular. You might want to consider whether it's worth the cost of the ticket on overcast days.

Transport info

If you have a car getting to the funicular is perfectly straightforward since the junction from the main coastal highway is clearly signedon the right.

Without a car things are not quite so straightforward. It's easiest if you are staying in one of the big holiday resorts along the coast (Beldibi, Göynük, Kemer, Kiriş, Çamyuva, Tekirova) from which there are daily shuttles. On Wednesdays and Saturdays there is also one shuttle from Antalya. Tekirova is the nearest base.

If, however, you want to visit from Çıralı or Olympos you will have to take public transport along the highway and get dropped off at the junction whence there are shuttle transfers to the base station every hour. Since there's nowhere for you to wait in the meantime this is not an especially appealing option, especially given the high cost of the visit - one would think they could take a little more trouble for their non-package guests.
