inan1Although there are lots of pensions and hotels in Uzungöl the İnan Kardeşler has things pretty much sewn up with three separate places to stay.

The main hotel certainly has bags of character and one has to admire its efforts to stick with wood even if some of it will be a little too quirky to suit all tastes. The lobby has a sitting area around a large fireplace and is decorated with all sorts of found wooden sculptures collected/created by Dursun İnan and with samples of homespun wisdom (in Turkish only) as offered by everyone from Aristotle to Mevlana.

Bedrooms are walled in wood like sauna cabins and have wooden bedframes too. They're spacious and have small balconies (looking onto the street unfortunately). My room had a wall-mounted TV but I had no luck with kickstarting the air-con. Not that it mattered since the air was cool and it was quiet enough to leave the balcony door open.inan2

Bathrooms are pleasingly tiled in green and surprisingly spacious.

There's a rather canteen-like restaurant on the premises or you can amble along the street to try one of the group's other properties. Excellent breakfasts with something to suit all tastes can be eaten either here or in an inviting outdoor area overlooking a little stream with waterwheels in it.

Thumbs up: Lots of space and idiosyncratic decor, excellent breakfasts.

Thumbs down: Decor will be too quirky for some
