Three km off the lefthand side of the road from Artvin to Ardanuç in northeastern Turkey lies the village of Hamalı with the fine church of Dolıshane.

It would be a steep but easy climb up to the village from the main road but in 2012 closures caused by work on the Deriner Dam made it difficult to get transport to and from the junction. Now that work on the dam is completed the situation may have changed,
