High in the hills above Ölüdeniz, tiny Faralya offers spectacular views  although if you plan to stay the night and admire the glorious sunset there’s not a lot else to do up here. But the views and scenery along this part of the coast are simply awe-inspiring and there are a number of interesting places to stay including the legendary George House whence a dodgy path winds down to the sea at Butterfly Valley.

The road from Faralya ends above Kabak, once a barely known hippy hangout popular for its yoga retreats and vegetarian cuisine but now a growing community of hotels and pensions overlooking a beach that features on the Lycian Way hiking trail.

Sleeping

Die Wassermuhle

On the left as you come into Faralya from Ölüdeniz The Watermill is housed inside what was indeed once the local mill. It’s the place to come if you suspect that George House will be too basic for you. Tel: 0252-642 1245

George House

You don’t come to stay at George’s for luxury but for the chance to chill out in a variety of simple sleeping places ranging from mere mattresses to somewhat claustrophobic wood cabins. Food is eaten communally in the main house. The views more than make up for any deficiencies in the sleeping arrangements.  Tel: 0252-642 1102
