If you’re staying in Safranbolu and have time on your hands you might want to venture out into the countryside northwest of town to visit the Bulak Mencilis Mağarası, a cave full of stalactites and stalagmites that lies to the northwest.
The cave network extends for six km into the hillside but visitors only get to walk along the first half-km or so. The metal walkway can be slippery when wet so wear shoes with a good grip.
Transport info
There is no public transport to the cave (10km) so without your own car you will need to find a tour running out of Safranbolu or make private arrangements with a taxi driver.
