Ferry crossing for Gelibolu                        Population: 16,000

Old name: Lampsacus

Market day: Saturday

In terms of things to do or even things to look at Lapseki is singularly uninspiring. However, it is a major ferry crossing point with half-hourly sailings to Gelibolu on the Gallipoli Peninsula.

Some of the bus companies used to use this crossing to get from Çanakkale to Edirne or İstanbul rather than use the crossing from Eceabat to Çanakkale. However, the opening of the Çanakkale 1915 Köprüsü (bridge) has probably reduced ferry usage.

Transport info

Gestaş operates hourly or half-hourly ferries between Gelibolu and Lapseki. https://www.gdu.com.tr/sefer-tarifeleri

Buses usually wait beside the ferry to run travellers straight on  to Çanakkale, Biga and Bursa.
