If you’re visiting Şimşirli in the İkizdere Valley, near Rize, you might want to walk the two km back down the valley to Güneyce to admire two of the eastern Black Sea‘s characteristic humpbacked stone bridges.

There is said to be another lovely wooden mosque like the one in Şimşirli here too but I was distracted by tea pickers and ran out of time to go in search of it.

Dolmuşes to Güneyce leave from the local bus terminal in the centre of Rize near the waterfront.
