Turgut is a pinprick of a village on the Hisarönü Peninsula between Orhaniye and Hisarönü itself. Its main claim to fame, despite the loudly publicized “Carpet Village”, is a waterfall on the inland side of the road.
Actually it’s not much a waterfall although if you need somewhere to visit in an area low on specific attractions other than beaches it’s a good enough place for a picnic. You might want to avoid the high summer months when every local and his uncle will have had the same idea.
Transport info
You can easily get to Turgut from Marmaris on any of the buses plying the road through Hisarönü, Orhaniye, Selimiye, Bozburun and Söğüt. It’s a short and well-signposted walk off the road to the waterfall (şelale in Turkish)
