“Cherry Village”                      Population: 1,100

Old name: Küplüce

The small village of Kirazlıköy, inland from Kuşadası on the way to Aydın, has worked hard in recent years to market itself as a place to come to eat good organic food, especially blowout brunches, or to stay in a boutique hotel amid rural tranquillity.

That aside, it doesn’t really have a great deal to offer a visitor – you can amble around the entire village and admire the few remaining stone houses in roughly half an hour.

Eating

Everyone will have their own favourite place to eat but I went for Köy Sofrası which is on the eastern outskirts of the village.

Sleeping

Bakkhos. My favourite although a little way before you get to Kirazlıköy proper. Colourful rooms set in gorgeous grounds with outdoor swimming pool. Tel: 0256-622 0337

Ephesus Boutique Hotel. Tel: 0256-667 1272

Muses House Boutique Hotel. Tel: 0256-667 1125

Transport info

Minibuses to Aydın leave from the town-centre minibus “terminal” at least every hour. They pass through Kirazlıköy on the way.
