There’s not much reason for you to stop in Nazilli unless you want to use it as an alternative base for visiting Aphrodisias via Karacasu or for getting to the ruins at Nysa.
If you do stop you’ll find a small private ethnography museum facing the station that may or may not be open. Also facing the station is the Uzun Çarşı, a pedestrianised shopping street cutting through a bazaar area.
In 2021 the remains of a huge oval amphitheatre capable of seating 20,000 spectators were discovered at Mastaura, 3km north of Nazilli. Excavation work is ongoing but the structure is thought to date from about 200 AD. It is only the third amphitheatre (as opposed to theatre) to be discovered in Turkey.
Sleeping
There are a few cheap places to stay near the station but you probably won’t pay much more to stay in the more comfortable Hotel Metya, opposite the bus station and perfect for early departures.
Transport info
There are minibuses to Nazilli from Aydın and Denizli but given that Aydın otogar is way out of the town centre you might be better off taking the timetabled train which does leave from the centre.
