Hatay beach resort
Old name: Rhosus (Roman)
South of İskenderun in the Hatay, the road runs along the coast to Arsuz. Part of the modern settlement lines a riverbank – – think Ağva in Istanbul to get the general idea.
The Arsuz Hotel overlooks a small curve of sandy beach and a river lined with small fishing boats.
In summer a few clubs open here. Otherwise amenities are limited to a handful of fairly simple restaurants.
Unfortunately Arsuz was very badly hit by the twin earthquakes of February 2023. Its church was ruined. I have not been able to revisit to see what remains.

Inviting if somewhat old-fashioned and not particularly cheap waterfront hotel that is the heart and soul of Arsuz. If you don’t get a sea view, don’t worry as you might land a river one instead.

Minibuses from İskenderun to Arsuz leave from just round the corner from the Şemsettin Mursaoğlu Anadolu Lisesi (High School) on Kanatlı Caddesi.
