Village called “Pouch”      Population: 2,700

Due north of Bodrum at the narrowest point on the Bodrum Peninsula, Torba is unabashedly upmarket especially once you get past the large Voyage Hotel that dominates the waterfront.

Although there is still a proper fishing harbour here there’s little sign of traditional village life. Instead there are many magnificent houses with lush gardens overlooking the sea to augment the hotels.

A path at the west side of the village runs along the headland overlooking uninhabited Salih Adası. It ends eventually at an exclusive housing development of lovely stone homes near the equally exclusive Amanruya Hotel favoured by the likes of actress Salma Hayek. In high summer you probably won’t be allowed anywhere near it.
