“Galley”           Population:

If you’re staying in Assos/Behramkale and want to stretch out on a beach you might want to consider travelling four km east to Kadırga where a wide strip of shingle beach is unfortunately overlooked by high-rise hotels catering for the package-holiday market, including the huge Assos Eden Gardens Hotel (Tel: 0286-764 0290).

Not that you’d guess it but these modern high-rises stand on the presumed site of an old Roman shipyard.

Away from the high-rises there are also a number of pleasant, family-oriented places to stay strung out along the coast road.

Club Hotel Kanara A collection of chalet-style hotel rooms scattered about a sprawling garden running right down to the sea. An on-site restaurant overlooks the beach. With a large children’s play area and lots of animals, this is a great place for a family holiday. Tel: 0286-764 0228
