One Thousand Lakes?                    Population: 93,000

A provincial capital with a deceptively pretty name, Bingöl (One Thousand Lakes) is actually a new town with almost no buildings of distinction to its name although the central mosque makes up in size for what it lacks in history.

Come here as a base for visiting the curious Yüzen Adalar (Floating Islands).

Sleeping

Büyük Bingöl Oteli No way does this hotel live up to its four-star billing. On the other hand it’s clean and comfortable with spacious rooms and decent beds if somewhat iffy plumbing. The breakfast room is capacious and comes with a Turkish corner. The food is pretty decent too. Tel: 0426-213 6868
