If you’re driving from Beysehir to Konya you will pass through the small and insignificant settlement of Yunuslar, right on the main road. With time on your hands you might like to divert south into the old village (unsigned but look for an old stone house on the corner of the road), whose houses are fine examples of the sort of stone-built architecture that used to grace local villages before concrete swept the board.

Look carefully at the stonework and you will spot pieces of old Roman and Byzantine masonry reused in the walls.

Beyond the village a stream flows out into a lovely unspoilt valley with some fine rocky scenery and many, many frogs, butterflies and tortoises.

Heading east to Konya you will see the restored caravanserai at Kızılören just to the south of the main road.

Transport info

Buses and dolmuşes between Beyşehir and Konya will drop you off in Yunuslar although getting a seat on a return bus can be tricky as most pass through already full.
